Architecture — A Previous Life

Before pivoting to UX I was an Architectural Designer, employing the same design strategies that make a successful digital product in the physical world. Below — a sampling of what I've worked on, with links to each firm I've been lucky to be a part of.

Project 01

Arboretum Community Center

My Role

I both managed this project — heading up a team of 3 other architects, interfacing with clients, consultants, and contractors — and played a key role from initial concept through final construction. I contributed graphics, drawings and renderings, and created presentations that carried us through the difficult DC Commission of Fine Arts approval process.

Project 02

Civil Rights Corps Offices

My Role

An interiors project where I managed the team and worked directly with the client and their employees to shape an architectural solution for their office needs. I was instrumental in every phase of design — landing on an aesthetic that reflects the office's personality while specifying sustainable materials throughout.

Project 03

The Wilson & The Elm

My Role

My focus was on the design of the exterior and office lobby of The Wilson. The exterior required extensive research of glazing systems and screening elements. I also worked on client presentations, coordinated with consultants to bring the design to life, and selected interior materials through later phases of design.

Project 04

Innovation & Research Center

My Role

Part of the design team producing imagery, layout, plans, sections and diagrams for this prototype Global Food Innovation Center. I researched the systems and technologies necessary to make the building possible. Inspired by the Cradle to Cradle® Design Framework, the project is designed for the circular economy at all scales — holistic, sustainable, and highly performative.
