Architecture
Before becoming a UX Designer I was an Architectural Designer, employing the same design strategies that make a successful digital product in the physical world. Here is a sampling of what I've worked on and links to each firm I've been lucky to be a part of.
Arboretum Community Center
I both managed this project, heading up a team of 3 other architects, interfacing with clients, consultants, and contractors as well as played a key role, from its initial concept design to final construction. In addition I contributed graphics, drawings and renderings and also created presentations getting us through the difficult DC Commission of Fine Arts approval process.
Firm: ISTUDIO Architects
For this interiors project I managed the team, and worked with our clients and the companies employees to come up with an architectural solution that met their office needs. I was instrumental in all phases of design, coming up with an aesthetic that reflects their office's personality while using sustainable materials throughout.
My main focus was on the design of the exterior and office lobby of The Wilson building at the for-front of the image on the right. The exterior required extensive research of glazing systems and screening elements. I also worked on client presentations and interacted with our consultants to make this design come to life as well as selecting interior materials through later stages of design.
I was part of the design team creating imagery, layout, plans, sections and diagrams for this prototype for a Global Food Innovation Center. I also researched the systems necessary and technologies available to make this building possible.
Inspired by the Cradle to Cradle® Design Framework,
this building is designed for the circular economy at
all scales. Holistic and sustainable but also highly
performative and efficient.
